Install
Instructions

Installing a SOAR hoop yourself is a real job: a dug footing, wet concrete, and a pole that weighs more than you do. This page covers what to plan for, and where to get the exact specification for your model.

Start with your model’s manual

Your hoop ships with the installation manual for that exact model. It is the only document that controls your footing depth, anchor dimensions, concrete volume, torque values, and cure time. Those numbers differ by backboard size and by site.

Follow the manual over any general article, including ours. SOAR’s structural warranty depends on the hoop being installed to that specification.

Can’t find your manual? Email assist@soarbb.com with your hoop model and order number and we’ll send it over.

What the job involves

01

Call 811 first

Free, and required in most places. They mark buried gas, power, and water lines before you dig. Do this days ahead, not the morning of.

02

Pick the spot

Check overhang into the court, roof lines, fences, and how far back the pole sits from the playing surface. Once it is in concrete, it does not move.

03

Dig and pour

A footing hole, an anchor set dead level and square, and bagged concrete. Your manual gives the dimensions and the mix.

04

Let it cure

Concrete needs time before any weight goes on the anchor. Rushing this is the most common way a DIY install fails.

05

Raise and assemble

Pole, arms, backboard, rim, net. This is the part that needs several people and the right tools, not just willing hands.

06

Check it over

Level, plumb, every bolt to spec, and the height adjustment working through its full range before anyone shoots.

Plan for help and for weather. This is not a one-person job, and it is not a one-afternoon job once curing time is counted. Decide honestly whether you want to spend the weekend on it.
